Giving back at Christmas has, for my family, become almost as much a tradition as decorating a tree and exchanging gifts. It may sound cliché, but there is no greater feeling than using one’s talents to help others.

Several weeks ago, I told you in my blog, how Rachael Venema Photography and Natural Path Wellness Center, were teaming up to host a toy drive and Photos with Santa day, at the wellness center. I’m excited to share that it couldn’t have been a bigger success, or more fun!

We were busy all day collecting toys and skateboards, action figures and backpacks, school items and warm clothing. Santa’s visit was the highlight of the event and every child or group of children had the opportunity to have their picture taken with Santa. In return for bringing a new, unused toy or clothing item, guests received a free digital image of their child’s photo with Santa.

Because family is important to me, and because giving back at Christmas is important to me, I’m always happy to find ways to involve entire families and the community in these events and this was the perfect way to do that!

Thank you to all those who donated toys, money or their time to the event. Thank you also to Cal Freight for their generous donation and Jennifer Komatsu, owner of Natural Path Wellness Center. Jennifer and I shopped together for kids’ clothes, boots and jackets with the money that was donated. And lastly, a big thank you to the Ripon Police Department, who will be distributing those gifts to families in need, very soon. Merry Christmas to all!
