You know what they say, the days are long, but the years are short. You may suddenly realize that you won’t have much time left with your family living under one roof. It’s important to make sure you capture your family as they are now!

If one of your kiddos is in high school, you may be wondering when you should schedule her senior photos. I get asked this question quite often, so I decided to write a blog post answering that question and sharing the story of this beautiful family.

When to Take Senior Photos in Ripon, CA

The biggest factor in choosing when you take your senior photos is to think about your favorite time of year and avoid scheduling them when your student is the busiest with sports and extracurricular commitments.

The summer before the start of senior year is a popular time to take senior portraits. If your senior plays a fall sport, choosing to take the photos in the spring may work best for your family. Reach out to your senior photographer to schedule the session with plenty of time to get their graduation announcements mailed out and images printed for their open house!

Capturing Your Family Portrait

Meet the Hernand family! This wonderful family realized that their child was about to graduate high school, and they had never taken professional family photos. Since their oldest was graduating, they really wanted to get photos done before he went off to college.  I was more than happy to create a portrait experience to highlight their graduating senior, as well as their whole family!

We worked together from beginning to end, from planning the session to printing and hanging their treasured family portrait artwork wall.

There were two other family members we had to include! Their dogs are part of their family but quite rambunctious! We included them by going to their house at the end of the session to get a few photos of their family with their two dogs.

We took their photos at Spring Creek Golf Course in Ripon, CA, because their family, especially the dad and son, loves golf and they live right near the golf course. I love being able to capture this for their family!

Displaying Your Family Portrait Artwork

I guided the Hernands through the entire process from beginning to end! I assisted them with selecting what to wear, so their photos would coordinate with the colors and style of their home decor.

My job isn’t done until your portraits are hung on the walls! With this project, I even installed their artwork for them. They now have a beautiful gallery of photos displayed in their home that they truly love, and I’m so happy for them!
